Limberlost Place – 2026 OGMA Award of Excellence in Architectural Glass and Metal – Execution

Date Posted: April 30, 2026

Contract Glaziers Inc. has been awarded the 2026 OGMA Award of Excellence in Architectural Glass and Metal – Execution for their work on Limberlost Place in Toronto. We are honoured to have worked on the project alongside the team as their fabrication partner. This award recognizes the exceptional work put forth by the Limberlost team throughout the project.

From OGMA:

“Located on the waterfront campus of George Brown College in Toronto’s East Bayfront community, Limberlost Place stands as a landmark achievement in sustainable architecture. As the first large scale mass timber assembly building of its kind in North America, the successful execution of this project represents a significant milestone in contemporary construction.

The building envelope expertly balances refined aesthetics with substantial technical complexity. Constructability challenges inherent to mass timber construction were addressed through the strategic selection of materials and installation methodologies tailored to the project’s performance demands. The use of high performance, large format wall panels enabled efficient enclosure while providing critical protection for the moisture sensitive mass timber structure.

Sustainability is deeply integrated into the building envelope through the incorporation of high performance glazing within a ribbon window system, operable windows, and solar chimneys supporting natural ventilation. These features contribute meaningfully to energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and environmental quality.

Delivering a project of this scale and innovation to such a high standard establishes an important benchmark for future mass timber developments. OGMA’s recognition of Contract Glaziers with the 2026 Award of Excellence in Architectural Glass & Metal – Execution celebrates the exceptional craftsmanship, coordination, and technical expertise demonstrated throughout this transformative project.”
