On November 27, 2019, The Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) awarded certifications in Zero Carbon Building (ZCB) and we are excited to have been part of two of the ten listed projects – The Joyce Centre for Partnership & Innovation (JCPI) at Mohawk College and Building NX at Humber College. The JCPI received not only a certification in ZCB design, but also in performance, a first for Canada! The design certification assures a project has been designed according to ZCB requirements, while the performance certification demonstrates the project has achieved zero carbon emissions over one year of operation as required by annual verification. The goal of introducing the ZCB standard is to have Canada achieve its international emissions targets by 2030 and if these achievements are any indication, it looks like we are well on our way! At CGI, we have the products and expertise to achieve the highest level of performance available when it comes to the ZCB industry. As a result, we continue to work on a wide array of net zero projects in both Canada and the U.S. and are proud of our contribution towards caring for the planet.
