C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital

Location: Ann Arbor, MI
Year Completed: 2009
Client: University of Michigan
Construction Manager: Barton Malow
Architects: HKS Architects

Since opening in 2011, C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital continues to rank as one of the best children’s hospitals in the U.S. according to U.S. News & World Report. The hospital has 348 single, private room beds divided between the children’s and women’s hospital and a dedicated pediatric emergency department. The building features wide spans of glass to allow for natural daylighting and beautiful views of nature and the Nichols Arboretum. The building’s architecture is made of limestone-coloured precast concrete, glass, and metal panels. Our team worked in a design assist capacity, providing a custom OBE unitized curtain wall complete with composite aluminum panels and bullnose features, as well as full building envelope modelling services, including precast, to manage clash detection and coordination with the steel structure/model.
