Les Terrasses de la Chaudière, or LTDLC, is a four-tower office and retail complex, which was built in Gatineau, Quebec in 1978. The complex is undergoing a large-scale recladding, which will result in 600,000 square feet of exterior pre-cast building envelope being replaced with high-performance curtain wall. The project will involve the removal of the existing brick veneer pre-cast panels and windows, the installation of a new unitized curtain wall facade, new interior finishes, and an overhaul of the existing mechanical and electrical systems. More than 6,500 employees work in the four-tower complex, which will remain occupied throughout the recladding process. Once finished, the new envelope will substantially improve the buildings’ overall climate performance, bringing them up to current standards to protect their occupants from even the harshest Canadian weather. The LTDLC complex serves as the headquarters of many government agencies, including Women and Gender Equality Canada, the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), the Canadian Transportation Agency, and the Department of Canadian Heritage. In addition to office facilities, the four towers are linked by a retail concourse and pedestrian paths.
